Call for Papers/Panels
The Association of Global South Studies welcomes individual papers or panels from any discipline related to the study of the Global South. A typical 75-minute panel consists of four presenters. Individuals declining to use the online PROPOSAL/PAYMENT LINK [forthcoming], can send 150-word proposals to the conference coordinator, Jose da Cruz, at firstname.lastname@example.org. The deadline for submission of proposals is 1 October 2019. Applicants will be informed within two weeks of submission if their proposal has been accepted. Applicants must register for the conference at the time of submitting their proposal. If a proposal is rejected, the registration fee will be refunded if the applicant decides not to attend the conference.
All paper presenters must be registered for the conference by 15 October.
Individuals declining to make a credit card payment using the online registration and payment forms at PROPOSAL/PAYMENT LINK [forthcoming] should send a check or money order payable to AGSS to the association’s treasurer, Paul Rodell, at PO Box 2112, Statesboro, GA 30459. Questions regarding payments should be directed to the treasurer at email@example.com. People not presenting papers, but attending the conference, must register by 15 November. Admission to the Opening Ceremony event on Sunday 15 December at the Estancia Rosario in San Antonio de Areco as well as the Awards Banquet in the evening on Tuesday 17 December at the hotel is included in the price of registration. A combination ticket for guests can be purchased for $100 from the treasurer before 15 November.

The conference will be held at the NH Buenos Aires 9 de Julio Hotel. Its location on 9 de Julio Avenue – the biggest avenue in the world – means all the sights of this vibrant city are within easy walking distance. Although panel presentations will take place on Monday and Tuesday, the all-day Opening Ceremony at the Estancia Rosario in San Antonio de Areco on Sunday, which includes a horse show and tasty Argentine food, is a full day event in the countryside, so it is suggested that participants arrive on Saturday. A block of 30 rooms, either single or double occupancy, has been reserved for Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday nights at the rate of $125 plus tax, which includes a deluxe breakfast. A block of 5 rooms has been reserved for the two nights before and after the four-night block of 30 rooms for participants that want to extend their stay. You are encouraged to make your hotel reservations early, using the special link [below this paragraph] created by the hotel and Condor Travel that offers the special rate.
For questions regarding logistics, contact the site coordinator, Michael Hall, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Condor Travel is offering a Half Day Guided Tour of The Highlights of Buenos Aires on Saturday afternoon and Wednesday morning. The price is $35 per person. Checks payable to AGSS should be sent to Paul Rodell. Seating is limited to 25 people for each tour.
